Verizon And AT&T Spend Big At FCC 700MHz Auction

FCC 700MHz Auction

Looks like Verizon and AT&T are the two biggest spenders on the FCC 700MHz Auction. Verizon ended up spending the most with $9.63 billion in bids. Most of that money went towards the C-block, which will give Verizon a nice start to their “Any Apps, Any Device” plan.

AT&T came in second with $6.64 in bids. They were mainly going after smaller regional licenses, and apparently were quite successful.

Overall, the US government netted $19.5 billion. Verizon and AT&T together spent $16.27 billion of that, so I guess that shows you by how much they outspent their competitors. I guess we’ll find out if their investment pays off in the future.
